Bang Bang Shrimp is definitely an underrated recipe! For seafood lovers, it’s definitely easy to recreate & it works as an appetizer for entertaining or a meal!
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 pound of large shrimp, frozen & cooked (or uncooked), peeled with tail off
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup thai sweet chili sauce
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon champagne vinegar (or white distilled vinegar)
1/2 teaspoon sugar
A dab of Sriracha Sauce
1/2 cup corn starch
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoon onion powder
Fresh cilantro and/or green onion, for garnish (optional)
White Rice for serving (optional)
To make the sauce, in a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, chili sauce, sesame oil, vinegar, sugar and sriracha.
Pour enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom of a large skillet and turn the temperature to high.
On a large plate (or bowl), combine the corn starch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Add a handful of shrimp at a time to the corn starch mixture and coat lightly. Drop into the hot oil and cook fully on each side.
Carefully remove the shrimp and place in a serving bowl. Add some sauce and toss with the cooked shrimp. Use any leftover sauce for serving.
